"Aeronaut" is better than "Pilot"

Dear 9th of November,

I am sitting on a random seat on the Amtrak train 69, and since I have about 8 more hours left on this train, I finally decided to initiate what I’ve been telling everyone prior and during my trip, a blog! As I begin to write, I just noticed that I lost my earphone case so I will continue to enjoy the left ear until it dies, similarly to how we sometimes do with people (sadly). This train trip is headed to Montreal. As I embark to Montreál, aka the Canadian adventure of my lifetime, I am filled with uncertainty and the incredible excitement new adventures instill within us. I have never met my host in real life, Savannah Kubecki, or her sister for that matter, Paige. From my understanding and previous interactions with them, they seem kind, driven and curious, all attributes I greatly respect. Thus, I’m probably going to have a blast to say the least.

As an opening blog post to Teenagers' Review, and also the 1,713 series titles on Netflix titled 'Pilot' (yes I went out of my way to figure this out), this too will be the 'Pilot' to my blogs. But, I feel that 'Pilot' is so unoriginal so I will use a very similar resemblance to the word that too happens to be a synonym: 'Aeronaut.' Another important note to add is that the word aeronaut is sick.

This first blog will spell out a few things regarding this blogging 'side-hustle' I have signed up for (please Zelle me up: 8573169628). I want to begin by stating the meaning and the title’s upbringing as it is quite important to the tone of the posts. Teenagers are infamous for embodying a mix of complicated, blunt, annoying, and even disgustingly intriguing qualities. That's the raw material Teenagers' Review is diving into. By embracing every adjective used to describe a teenager’s unique expression, this blog isn’t just about thriving; it’s about making you a willing accomplice in this literary adventure (I'm stretching it's meaning, I'm aware) through the crooked alleys of a teenager’s mind who got the chance to explore the world. So, let's buckle up for the rollercoaster of thoughts on paper and let’s see where these adjectives take us!

Another aspect I feel is necessary for me to clear up is that, as previously stated, I am traveling and want to share 'what I do' on my travels. It is only fair to, at minimum, indirectly tell your parents what you’re doing with their money, isn’t that right fellow teens? Jokes aside, I will forever be grateful for the chance I was given by my loving parents to take up on a year of world exploration, culture, family, and personal discovery, which my mum and I decided to strategically call 'Purpose Year' because we rock, and because the term 'gap year' is so 2022 (it was coined by the Brits in the 1960s).

Being the first of many blogs, I want to emphasize and clarify what 'Teenagers' Review' will mean to me. Memories are cataloged in many different ways, from neurotransmitters that activate from time to time to photographs to voice memos to literature. I want to captivate as much as I can of my trip and my thoughts and adventures through the form I most appreciate to archive memories to be looked at later, writing. This blog’s purpose is to look into Leon’s mind and potentially other teenagers, and tap into how we really think. Even writing that previous sentence feels a bit odd but also humorous as I just referred to myself through 2nd person even though it is me, Leon, writing this in first person.

Anyway, I aim for readers to understand how I see the world and how I find beauty in most things, despite them not being beautiful at first or physical glance; after all, you know what they say, never judge a book by its cover… unless it has scratch marks all over their body, an unusually creative aroma, and is enthusiastically auditioning for a one-person Broadway show on the streets of New York. In that case, they might be starring in the avant-garde production of 'Meth the Musical' or another potent, destructive performance art piece roaming around the beautiful skyline of New York City! Then, feel free to bring out your inner critic and judge the night away.

In addition to blogs, I aim to accompany them with pictures, of which I unfortunately have not taken as many as my mum would’ve liked on my adventurous endeavors (fair enough mami), so I want to apologize in advance for that. However, moving forward, you know I’m going to have banging pictures throughout to try compliment the narrative essence of my posts with pictures to better realize my thoughts. We’ll see how successful I am with that though since like this blog’s anticipated arrival, it was too spoken of a lot more than actually written.

Other than that, there isn’t much to be said today. I left at 8:40 from Penn Station, New York and am headed to Montreal, a mere 12-hour (ish) commute. Who doesn’t love to sit all day on a comfy Amtrak train chair? No, seriously, they’re incredible. If you have not traveled by train in the US, consider your life choices, and I guess you can consider your travel choices. I reckon that will be it for you today, precious 9th of November 2023. You have served me well as a regular Thursday and 'World Freedom Day.'

As a grand closer to this Blog’s upcoming slammers, I want to end with a quote. "Why is 'World Freedom Day' also the same as 'National Fried Chicken Day'?"
